How we calculate

Scripts a year = students × objective exams per student.
Paper cost per script = pages × printing per page + answer sheet + marking + handling.
ExamPin running cost per script = lab power: a computer at about 0.15 kW for a one-hour exam at ₹9 a unit, about ₹1.35.
Not counted on either side: invigilators and lab rooms (you need them both ways), and the ExamPin licence, which we quote per institution.
Objective exams only. Descriptive answers still need a teacher, though ExamPin collects them and totals the marks.

Do we need new computers, a server or internet?

No new computers and no server of your own. The exam runs on the Windows, macOS or Linux computers you already have, with no internet while students write. Each computer needs Java, a free one-time install your IT admin can do in minutes. Your exam cell uses the ExamPin console in a web browser to create exams and mark them.

Can students take an exam on their own phone or laptop?

Yes. Tick Browser or App on the exam and share its link or QR code. Students sign in while the exam is open, the exam locks the screen, and every time they leave it is recorded. Answers are saved on the device first, so a dropped connection loses nothing, and each attempt is marked the moment it is submitted.

How do answers get from the lab back to the exam cell?

Each student’s answers are saved as one small file on the computer they used. After the exam, your lab staff copy those files into one folder, by pen drive or shared folder, and the exam cell drops that folder into the console. ExamPin works out which exam the files belong to and flags any that don’t.

What kinds of questions can we set?

Multiple choice (including more than one correct answer), true or false, and reading passages are marked automatically. Descriptive answers are collected too, and faculty enter those marks beside the objective score.

Can the answer key leak from the lab?

No. The exam file that goes to the lab holds only the questions. The answer key is sealed in the cloud the moment the exam is built, and is used only when your exam cell marks the answer files.

How much can we really save?

Can students cheat or get out of the exam?

A few operating-system shortcuts can’t be blocked by any app, so the exam takes the screen straight back, records the attempt and turns the header red for the invigilator.
