Demo requests
When you request a demo, we receive what you type into the form:
- your name and work email
- your institution, role and the usual number of students per exam
- anything you add in the message box
They are sent to our support inbox and to a private spreadsheet used to track requests. We use them only to reply to you and arrange the demo. We don’t sell them or add you to a mailing list. Ask us at any time to delete them.
Exams on computers
For an exam taken offline on computers, the ExamPin exam file runs on your own computers. Questions, answers, passwords and results stay on those computers and in the folders you choose. None of it is sent to us.
Online exams: the ExamPin Exam app and the browser
An online exam is taken in the ExamPin Exam app for Android, iPhone and iPad, or in a browser at exam.exampin.com. It is set by your organization, such as your college or employer. The organization gives you your username, runs the exam and owns its results. We keep them for the organization.
Nothing is recorded before you start an exam. From the moment you sign in to one, we receive:
- your username, and your password to check it (the password is not kept)
- your answers, and when you gave or changed each one
- when you started the exam and when it was submitted
- each time you leave the exam: switching to another app or tab, leaving fullscreen in a browser, split screen, and unpinning the screen on Android
- on iPhone and iPad, each screenshot and screen recording
- in a browser, each blocked try to copy, cut, paste, print, open the right-click menu or open the developer tools
- when your device went offline and came back online
- in the app, your device’s model, operating system and version, and whether the screen was pinned or Guided Access was on
- your screen size, time zone and language, and in a browser the window size, number of processor cores, memory, whether it has a touch screen and the connection type
- a random ID the app or browser makes when it is first used, to tell which device an exam was taken on
- the IP address your device connects from
We never collect your location, contacts, photos, your device’s name or an advertising ID. There are no ads and no tracking.
In the app, the camera is used only to read the QR code on your exam slip, and no picture is kept or sent. On iPhone and iPad the app asks for the camera when you tap Scan. On Android the scan screen is Google’s code scanner in Google Play services, so the app itself has no camera permission. That scanner is part of Google’s ML Kit, which sends Google basic diagnostics, such as the device model, the app’s version and error codes, as described in Google’s ML Kit data disclosure.
While an exam is open, the app or browser keeps it and your answers on the device, your answers encrypted, so nothing is lost when the connection drops. They are removed when you close the finished exam or sign out of it. The app’s data is never part of device backups.
What we receive is kept with the organization’s exam results, for as long as the organization keeps them. Its team sees it, and the organization decides when you see your results. To see, correct or delete it, ask your organization. We don’t sell it or use it for anything else.
