BrowserOnline exam software
Online exams from one link, locked fullscreen.
Share a link or a QR code. Participants sign in while the exam is open, the browser goes fullscreen, and every answer is saved on their device before it is sent. A dropped connection loses nothing, and each attempt is marked the moment it is submitted.
Nothing to install for participants · No time extensions · Same results page as your offline exams
From a link to a result, in four steps.
Your exam cell sets the rules once. Participants need only the slip and the username and password your organization gives them.
- Exam cell · before
Choose where and when
Tick Browser on the exam, set when it opens and closes, and choose what leaving the exam does: warn only, or end the exam after a number of leaves.
- Exam cell · before
Share the exam slip
The exam gets an 8-character code, a link and a QR code. Print the slip with the opening time and sign-in steps, or copy the link and send it.
- Participants · exam day
Sign in, go fullscreen, write
Participants open the link and sign in with the username and password from your organization. The exam opens fullscreen, and the questions are never shown outside it.
- Exam cell · after
Marked on submit
Objective questions are marked the moment an attempt is submitted. Written answers wait for faculty to grade them, and you release results when you are ready.
Built for real connections, not perfect ones.
Participants sit online exams on mobile data and home Wi-Fi. ExamPin expects the connection to drop and plans for it.
A dropped connection loses nothing
Every answer is saved on the device, encrypted, before it is sent. The exam carries on while offline and catches up when the connection is back.
The server keeps the time
The countdown follows the server’s clock, not the device’s. Changing the device’s clock or putting a laptop to sleep adds no time.
No time extensions
Each attempt’s deadline is fixed when it starts, and nothing moves it. If someone needs a fresh start, your team resets the attempt with a reason, and the old one stays on record.
Submitted when time is up
At zero the answers are submitted automatically. If a device never comes back, the server submits what it already has after the deadline.
Carry on from another device
A broken phone doesn’t end the exam. Sign in on another device and continue; the move is flagged for your team, and the first device stops.
One attempt per person
Each username gets one attempt per exam. Signing in again continues the same attempt instead of starting a new one.
What the browser locks down, and records.
Fullscreen is mandatory. Every way out is blocked where a browser allows it, and recorded where it doesn’t.
Fullscreen or nothing
The exam starts fullscreen from the Start button. Leave fullscreen and the questions disappear behind a “Return to the exam” screen.
Every leave counted
Switching tabs or windows, leaving fullscreen or reloading the page counts as a leave, with its time on the attempt’s timeline.
Warn, or end the exam
Your exam decides: leaving only warns the participant, or the exam ends after the number of leaves you set, from 1 to 20.
Copy, paste and print blocked
Copy, cut, paste, print, the right-click menu and the developer-tool shortcuts are blocked, and each try is recorded.
Unsafe browsers turned away
Browsers that can’t go fullscreen, such as the in-app browsers in WhatsApp or Telegram, are refused with a button to copy the link elsewhere.
Paper and key kept back
The questions reach the device only after sign-in inside the exam’s window. The answer key never leaves ExamPin.
Three ways to sit the same exam.
Tick one or more on each exam. The paper, the sealed answer key and the results page stay the same however each person took it.

What a browser can’t stop, said plainly.
A web page can’t block screenshots, see a second phone on the desk or stop someone reading the screen over a shoulder. ExamPin doesn’t pretend otherwise, and it doesn’t watch participants through a camera.
What it does is make leaving the exam visible. Every leave is on the attempt’s timeline with its time, the results show which platform each attempt used, and your exam decides whether leaving only warns or ends the exam.
For the strictest exams, use the exam file on computers, where the whole computer is locked, or the ExamPin Exam app, which pins the screen and blocks screenshots on Android.
Questions about online exams.
More in the full FAQ, or ask us in your demo request.
Do participants need to install anything?
Not for a browser exam. They open the link in Chrome, Safari or another browser that can go fullscreen. On phones and tablets they can also use the ExamPin Exam app.
What happens if the internet drops during the exam?
Keep answering. Every answer is saved on the device and sent when the connection is back, and a quiet note says so. Participants need the internet to sign in and to submit; in between, a drop costs nothing, though the clock keeps running.
Can someone get extra time?
No. Each attempt’s deadline is fixed when it starts. The only fresh start is Reset attempt: your team gives a reason, the old attempt is voided and stays visible, and the participant signs in to a new attempt with a new timer.
Can participants take a browser exam on an iPhone?
Not in a browser. Safari on iPhone can’t open a web page fullscreen, so the exam refuses it. On iPhone, participants use the ExamPin Exam app instead.
Is there webcam proctoring?
No. ExamPin doesn’t use the camera or microphone during an exam. It locks the screen, records every leave with its time, and lets your exam decide what leaving costs.
